How to Build a Trade Show Booth That No One Can Ignore
And then there are trade show booths that draw crowds.
That was exactly the goal of our project for HeyJobs at the Zukunft Personal trade show in Cologne. The booth wasn’t just meant to be visible; above all, it was designed to achieve one thing: Maximum attention, long dwell times, and conversations with the right decision-makers.

The Initial Situation
When Recruiting Needs to Be Visible
At Zukunft Personal—one of the most important HR trade shows in Europe—numerous providers connect with a highly competitive target audience.
The challenge:
• Stand out from the crowd
• Grab attention immediately
• Direct visitors to the booth
• And create an environment where genuine conversations can take place
A traditional trade show booth wouldn’t have been enough here..
The Target Audience
If you want to reach HR decision-makers
The trade show booth was aimed at:
• HR managers and recruiters
• CEOs and decision-makers
• HR managers at large companies
• Agencies and HR service providers
This target audience is very busy and moves quickly through the trade show.
The booth therefore had to convey within a few seconds:
It’s worth stopping here.
The Communication Concept
When Attention Becomes a Strategy
The central idea was to design the trade show booth in such a way that it would be highly appealing even from a distance.
To achieve this, we deliberately focused on a combination of:
• Moving images for maximum impact from a distance
• Clear brand communication
• And an open, inviting spatial concept
The goal was not only to attract visitors but also to keep them at the booth and engage them in conversation.
The Booth Solution
When Moving Images and Interior Design Guide Visitor Flow
Even from a distance, a large LED banner at the top of the booth ensured maximum visibility.
In addition, moving images were strategically integrated into the booth’s architecture:• looping video content arranged in a checkerboard pattern on the side walls
• visual dynamics along the kitchen display
• a combination of movement, light, and spatial structure
This design created a continuous visual flow that automatically drew visitors to the booth. Another central element was the integrated kitchen and lounge area, which was deliberately designed as a social hub. Here, conversations could take place—not in the traditional trade show setting, but in an open, relaxed atmosphere. As a result, the trade show booth was not only seen but also actively used.
The result
When an exhibition booth becomes the centerpiece of the trade show
The trade show booth became by far the most visited booth at the entire event.
The combination of:
• high visibility from a distance
• targeted visitor guidance
• and a high-quality visitor experience
resulted in the booth being continuously filled with relevant visitors.
At the same time, numerous conversations took place with decision-makers from the HR industry.
The trade show presence impressively demonstrated how moving images, spatial design, and strategic visitor guidance can be combined to create a genuine competitive advantage.
